How Dance is an act of Worship or Praise

Have you ever won at something and started…….dancing?

Whenever an individual, a group, a team, a nation wins at a milestone, a championship, a game, a war, one of the most automatic responses is to dance. This is because it is natural. To express joy over some victory usually comes out in dancing.

In the presence of God, your spirit is also compelled to present or give something to the king and dance is an appropriate and natural response. This dance for the Lord has more slower solemn movements.

Why are both forms of dance, acts of praise and worship?

Dance takes all of:

Your Mind ~ brain functions, like motor skills )
Your Body ~ all of your body parts )
Your Soul ~ feeling about the music, mood, & movements )
Your Spirit ~ the nature of you

And since you are giving all of yourself through dance to the Lord, whether victory/praise or worship, He accepts it because you kept nothing from Him. You have honored Him through the Dance.

Why I might Change my ‘Religion’

Jesus, on behalf of His Father, did not come to restore religion to those that are the children of God. He came to reconnect us to the Father, that beautiful connection we would have inherited from the times in the Garden…

But when He did com, He kept TORAH.

Not Judaism.

Not Christianity.

Not even Catholicism.

But the laws, commands, and words that His Father gave to Moses for His chosen people. Yet every religion on earth seems to have a mixture of traditions of men. And why should I follow something God does not want us to follow?

He said follow Him.

Not man.

Not preacher.

Not even family.

But HIM.

Christianity is evolving. And what it started out with my alarm many Christians. God changes not.Β  There are too many Christians accepting things not of God…

I no longer want to be part of something that is found to be fighting against the ways of God. I want to live to please Him, and not fit into a religion of man’s perspective on life.

Have you noticed the extreme and intense and overt assimilation into our Christian culture lately?

When is praise and worship dance appropriate?

Just as there are various styles of dance, there are also various types of dance that you can present to our Lord. I will only focus on two in this article, but please note, there are as many types of dance as there are types of prayer, like the war dance, the petition dance, the historical dance, etc. If you want more information on these dances, please comment below, so I’ll know that’s what you want to read next πŸ™‚

The two most well known types of godly dances are praise and worship. The difference between praise dance and worship dance is this:

Praise dance is usually a dance to thank the Lord immediately after He has done something for you as a person or as a group. Something you may have been praying about and He granted or some unexpected favor you received. This a a dance of thanks to God usually depicted by faster, cheerful movements.

Worship dance is usually danced to celebrate the Lord and reverence His Holiness and Nature. It’s usually focused on Him and His wonderful character as revealed to us. The dance is usually solemn with slower, graceful, and meaningful movements.

lean for God

The dances are their meanings should govern the appropriateness of the occasion, but when do you dance them? Well that depends….on your location. If you are in public, you must wait for the leading of the Holy Spirit. He has the right timing and right purpose of every dance done before an audience. If you are in the privacy of your dwelling, you may dance when you heart longs to!

My heart almost always longs to dance in the public and in private, but I wait for the urging and go forth accordingly. If you are a dancer for the Lord, when and where do you dance?

Christian Dancer or Dancer for Christ?

As a dancer, I’ve been considering who I am lately. To be a Christian says a lot of things, and some things I’ve discovered that I do not agree with. I will review those thing in full and in depth in another post. But one of the question I asked myself and I ask you, is, did God create us and this wonderful plan of salvation, just to give us….Religion?

Christianity is lovely. It was really birthed from a branch of the Catholic Church ( did you know that? ). But many Christians differ on what the Bible really means. And many of its traditions have not come from the Word of God. That is why it doesn’t sit well with me 100%.

Reason with me. Examine God’s Word and see if what I say be true or false.

I question things. I question things a lot. And I have a few questions now.

I am to be a dancer of religion? The christian religion? Or am I to dance for the One whose teachings now have got men so opinionated over, that they create countless factions, denominations, and kinds, within one religion?

Who employs me, Christianity or God? I cannot dance for anything but the supreme One who called me. Christianity didn’t call me. Jesus did. And He said follow Him.

I want to Dance for Christ.

I want to Dance for my King.

I want to Dance for God.

Not religion, not Christianity, and not for traditions of men. I will follow my Lord & King and nothing else.

What about you?
