The Dancer’s Instrument

All Artists must make sure they use the most accurate tools in the best condition for their work. A painter picks the right brush size, a pianist tunes his piano, and singer find the right pitch. And so the dancer too, needs to pick, tune, and find the right positions for his or her body.

In order for a dancer to reach optimum levels of free expression in dance, he or she needs to focus on perfecting three things:

#1 His or Her Health

#2 His or Her Mind

#3 His or Her Body

A dancer should be eating the right things for his/her energy and endurance level, as well as making sure all his/her organs are fully functioning and in the best state. Research the best food plans for your body, blood type, and any specific conditions.

A dancer should focus on lovely and positive thoughts and not toxic, negative, or debilitating ones. Whatever a person thinks will reflects on the movements he/she makes. Believing you can do a move, will help you accomplish that. Committing Colossians 3:8,9 or Galatians 5:19-21 in your heart will hinder your dancing. Instead following Galatians 6:1, 5:22-23 and Colossians 3:2.

A dancer should stretch and push for flexibility in all areas of the body, if possible and if safe to do so, to prevent any limitations of movement.

Dancers take care of your instruments, it’s what we are charged to do, in order to present the Dance.
